  • MASSAGE

Massage at Pure Release is the foundation of all our treatments. The goal of manual therapy is to eliminate acute and chronic pain and assist the body in reinstating or optimising its alignment and functionality. The release and rehabilitation of congested or injured soft tissue is a restorative process that allows the body to reset and realign. Understanding that everybody is different and every ‘body’ is different, massage needs to be modified according to needs and desires. We offer relaxing, deep tissue, remedial, myofascial, and trigger point therapeutic treatments that leave you feeling respected, cared for, and balanced. All our massages use gentle and non-allergenic oils that improve the health and vibrancy of your skin.

  • MYOTHERAPY

Myotherapy is a hands-on therapy that engages clinical analysis to treat, manage, and rehabilitate a range of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. We use a wide range of evidence-based treatment techniques such as soft tissue therapy, cupping, myofascial dry needling, corrective and rehabilitative exercises, MET (muscle energy technique), PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) assisted stretching, and prescriptive posture and lifestyle advice. Myotherapy utilises Western medical principles of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and pathology to assist in early intervention, prevention, treatment, and management of injuries and pain.

  • DRY NEEDLING

Myofascial dry needling is the intramuscular stimulation of myofascial trigger points using a solid filiform needle. Activating the muscle fibres or trigger point with tolerable movement will initiate a twitch response. This stimulus can be an effective and efficient therapeutic technique that encourages blood flow, induces muscle relaxation, quickens the release of tension, and restores neurological pathways. Myofascial dry needling is based on Western anatomical and neurophysiological principles and should not be confused with acupuncture. Although using the same needles, acupuncture is thought to realign energy flow throughout the body. Dry needling specifically targets dysfunctional trigger points, muscle structures, and connective tissues to ease pain and restore functionality and alignment.

  • CUPPING THERAPY

Myofascial cupping therapy consists of silicone suction cups being placed on specific areas of the body to lift and separate soft tissues; an effect known as negative pressure. Static placement on trigger points, knots, and connective tissue reduces congestion, removes blockages, and relieves musculoskeletal pain. Gliding techniques draw large amounts of fresh blood to affected areas to promote self-healing. Functional cupping (static cupping combined with active movement) stretches out restricted fascia and tight muscles to increase your range of motion. Evidence also suggests that cupping can instigate muscle relaxation. This treatment can leave circular bruises or red marks on the skin which is part of the healing process.

  • JAW RELEASE

The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) can be the source of discomfort, clicking, fascial pain, sinus issues, inflammation, compromised movement, headaches, and even migraines. Stress can often trigger or aggravate a TMJ dysfunction which is clinically indistinguishable from types of tension headaches. The muscles surrounding the TMJ are used continuously throughout the day and night: chewing, talking, clenching, grinding, etc. All this tightening can cause misalignment and may need a jaw release to help restore jaw control, neck position, headache management, and overall mental and emotional wellbeing. Jaw release appointments only require a 30 minute “Focussed Consultation” – unless further examination or other conditions are present.

  • MOBILISATION

Mobilisation is most often referred to as joint mobilisation (arthrokinematics). However, mobilisation can also designate the movement of bones in space (osteokinematics) and the mobilisation of soft tissues. Reduced range of motion can be caused by restrictions within these structures. These restrictions can impair natural movement and, in some cases, produce pain during movement. Joint mobilisation stabilises bone structures while oscillating the conjoining joint or uses traction/distraction techniques to release binds within the joint capsule or surrounding tissues. This is the not to be confused with joint manipulation. Pure Release myotherapy utilisers various types of mobilisations to increase joint mobility, optimise range of motion, and decrease pain.

  • STRETCHING & EXERCISE

Many great physical therapists have said, “Motion is Lotion”. We use Muscle Energy Technique (active contractions with manual stretching) to ease muscle guarding and lengthen muscle tissues. This assists the body to restore full range of motion. Healthy movement helps with joint lubrication, flexibility and mobility, increase or maintenance of bone density, and overall mental health. To assist the hands-on treatment, the therapist will provide prescriptive advice on exercise, stretching, and lifestyle modifications to support the natural healing and prevention of your condition. Lengthening and strengthening your muscles is the best way to support your skeletal structure and give you the best foundation to live from.

  • INFRARED SAUNA

In partnership with Wonga Health and Fitness Studio we offer the use of an Infrared Sauna. Unlike traditional saunas, Infrared Saunas function at a lower temperature emitting heat and light waves that penetrate deeper into your body and muscles rather than just heating the air around you. There are a range of benefits from using a sauna. One of the main benefits we utilise an Infrared Sauna within our services is for pain management and tension release. Due to the enhanced circulation from dilated blood vessels, toxins and impurities are removed from the body. This leads to a more effective healing process while reducing joint pain, muscle aches, and stiffness. Other benefits include stress relief, promotion of better sleep, cardiovascular and lung health, detoxification, and increased blood flow.
